EmlenMud was written by Owen Emlen and is a derivative of the original NiMUD, Written by Herbert E Gilliland III ("Locke") and Christopher Woodward ("Surreal"), released in 1994. The OLC in EmlenMUD is based on TheIsles OLC. There are slight changes in Emlen OLC. SPEDIT is now SEDIT, EDIT (for script code), SCRIPTEDIT (triggers that run scripts using mobs, objects, rooms, with certain commands like give, enter, leave). In 2006 Owen announced he would be rewriting the MUD in C# and has also announced a Visual Basic version called EmlenMUD II.

Mortal Conquest is where everything started in 1994 with Orin (Owen Emlen) and Smack (Greg Richardson) There were others that helped with the work on MC however their names have been lost in history. Midpoint Void (MpV) started because of the break up of the MC crew. Owen and Greg went to work on MpV and created EmlenMUD.

EmlenMUD became the server software used to create the immensely popular "Rites of Passage" (ROPmud). It was also run by CCBFH (Connection Closed by Foreign Host - the original EmlenMUD), Mortal Conquest, Midpoint Void (1994) (MpV), Midpoint Void 2/Void of Reality (1995) (VoR), FateMud (1996), Altross (1998), Methods of Destruction (1997) (MODMUD), Aturion Dynasty (1995) (AD), Lands of Chaos (1995) (LoC), and the derivative of MPV/EmlenMUD,  EverWar (or "eWar 2.0").

A different version[]

Mortal Conquest is where everything started in 1994-1995 with Orin (Owen Emlen) and Smack (Greg Richardson), Drakk, and two others who's names have been lost to history. Connection Closed by Foreign Host started because of the break up of the MC crew after the portal soldier hack, killing everyone online and violating server integrity.

EmlenMUD became the server software used to create the immensely popular "Lands of Chaos" (LoC), run by Lonath, Kizmet, and Trent. Lonath upgraded the code, to Lands of Chaos 2, with many new skills and features such as smash block double_kick resilience steadiness alertness sixth-sense chameleon implant-cost, also including a dynamic map display, where it was stolen by the syndicate (moronic power-structures in the un-united fakes) engaging in vampire depravity. It also so happens that the SoggiS clan quit playing at the time. Mortal Conquest variants were also run by, Patternfall (1996), which was closed down being a hacked version of emlen mud -- Owen set up a mechanism to be able to detect all bootups of the game, and the perpetrator was caught -- Mortal Conquest 2 (1996), about 8 playerwipes of Void of Reality (1996), Mid Point Void 2 (1996), FateMud (1996), Altross (1998), Methods of Destruction (1997), Aturion Dynasty (1995) (AD), Rites of Passage (1995) -- this mud is the philosophical enemy of Lands of Chaos, featuring low character power and a large, safe map --, Fate, and some other dutch variant, who's name escapes the editor at this time.
